About the Crazed Collector

What is the Crazed Collector?

The Crazed Collector is a full color, 48-page newsletter devoted to exploring the homes and collections of truly crazed collectors. While we normally focus on articles about chintz collecting, we also have features on chintz go-withs (other collections that go well with chintz), by wonderful manufacturers such as Royal Winton, Crown Ducal, Lord Nelson and James Kent, to name a few. We also delve into other collectibles –vintage items such as hats, bottle toppers, even railroad memorabilia. We also review antique shows and related events with a North America focus. Travel reports appear in every issue, as do decorating tips and tearoom reviews. Since we also love to give (and attend) tea parties, we’ll report on those as well, and we’ll offer helpful hints for hosting your own.

We have regular contributions from Susan Scott, author of The Charlton Standard Catalog of Chintz. Other regular features include “Meet the Artisan”, “A Truly Crazed Collector”, “Collector Profile” and even a crafting “How to” column.

Please review the newsletter excerpts. A one-year subscription is only $50.00 for U.S. subscribers, and $60.00 US for foreign subscriptions.

We hope to see you as a subscriber soon!.

About the Crazed Collectors Authors

Char Jorgenson

I have been collecting since I was a child, going through many varied collections. I first started collecting chintz in 1992 with a piece rescued from a pile of discards headed for the dump. I love to haunt flea markets and antique shows looking for that fabulous bargain, not only in chintz but in the many other things I collect…ceramic laundry sprinkler bottles, Hull American pottery, cast iron flower basket door knockers, Crown Staffordshire bone china flower clusters and much more. The newsletter endeavor is a truly a labor of love..lots of fun and many opportunities to meet wonderful new people in our travels. We never run out of ideas for features articles, and are lucky to have many supportive subscribers who contribute photos, articles, and most of all…terrific moral support!

I have been collecting chintz since 1998. I have a neighbor to thank for introducing me to the world of chintz. I have always loved all things Victorian, and chintz seems to fit right in! I can’t hold myself to just one favorite pattern, although lately I have been buying a lot of Somerset chintz. When the International Chintz organization ceased functioning a couple of years ago and discontinued printing their newsletter, the chintz world was suddenly left “printless”. On-line one day, Char and I were lamenting the demise of the international newsletter. I remember saying “I’d publish a newsletter, but I don’t want to do it by myself”. At that point, Char echoed, “ I don’t want to do it by myself either – why don’t we do it together?”. And so, The Crazed Collector was born…
